Kalamazoo River – D Ave to Plainwell July 4, 2012

Independence Day paddle down the upper Kalamazoo River. Very hot day- temp in the car afterward read 100 degrees. Hottest day in 24 years here.
Only 5 of us showed up. A nice small group for a change.
Current ranged from very little to moderately fast with some small riffles.
Not a lot of shade along the river, but a nice breeze and an occasional dip in the river kept the temps from being a problem.

Stopped at an ice cream shop next to the river in Plainwell for a white chocolate-raspberry ice cream cone. Excellent way to end a paddle on a hot day.

Paddled 8.5 miles. Year to date:94.15 miles.
